What is Rural and Critical?
The Beaufort County Rural and Critical Land Preservation Program, since 1999, has actively preserved land deemed “critical” by citizens in addition to preserving the rural communities in our county. Just a few of the benefits to Beaufort County include:
Preserving our unique coastal ENVIRONMENT and QUALITY OF LIFE by purchasing land to keep rivers and beaches clean, preserve wildlife habitat, and for passive parks.
Preserving our CULTURE and HISTORY by protecting Native American sites, colonial forts, Gullah/Geechee heritage sites, and much more.
