District 10

Dorothy Scanlin District 10 | Rural and Critical BoardDorothy Scanlin is a board member of the Hilton Head Island Land Trust and Palmetto Hall Property Owners Association. Currently she is also a member of the Heritage Library and Coastal Discovery Museum and working with the management of the Heritage Golf Group to bring historical learning experiences to the residents of Palmetto Hall. As a board member of the Land Trust she worked with Native Islanders to present a program depicting the Emancipation Proclamation 150th Anniversary at Fort Howell along with the celebration of the 150th year of the Fort’s building.

Dorothy is a resident of Hilton Head Island since 2012. Prior to that she lived and taught in Virginia, New York, Pennsylvania, and Florida. She successfully taught English, Drama and Special Education. While teaching in Florida she was awarded the Golden Apple Award for excellence in teaching. Dorothy holds a Bachelor’s degree in Speech and Drama, and a Master’s Degree in Education.
