Mark Baker is President of Wood+Partners Inc., a regional land planning and landscape architecture firm with offices in Hilton Head Island, SC and Tallahassee, FL. In addition to being the firm’s President, Mark serves as the firms Director of Marketing and Partner-in-Charge of numerous public and private sector projects. The firm’s work covers a wide range of project types throughout the Southeastern United States and Caribbean including large mixed-use residential communities, new commercial town centers, downtown revitalization master plans, resorts and hotels, colleges and universities and large regional parks. Mark’s projects have received numerous awards throughout the years. He is also frequently invited to speak at conferences on topics such as trends in community and real estate development, park and recreation planning, urban design and revitalization planning.
Mark received his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture, University of Georgia in 1977 and is active in many professional associations including the American Society of Landscape Architects, NRPA, the SC, NC, GA and FL Recreation & Park Associations and the Urban Land Institute. He believes strongly in giving back to the community has served numerous committees and boards. Mark served as a member of the Town of Hilton Head Island’s Mayor’s Vision 2025 Task Force, is a Trustee for the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry, Chairman of the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry Public Art Committee, Chairman of the Experience Green Board of Directors, former Chairman of the Greater Island Committee Recreation & Environment Subcommittee and as former Chairman of the SC Landscape Architect Advisory Committee, and sits on the Beaufort County Rural and Critical Lands Board, the Coastal Discovery Museum Board and the Hilton Head Island UGA Alumni Chapter.
